Toh Kwan Rzen

Toh Kwan Rzen (b.2005) is an artist, storyteller and inventor who is continually fascinated by visualising the psyche in paint and ink, whilst simultaneously being obsessed with the hybridity between the organic and algorithmic.

In his total practice, Kwan Rzen continually innovates under the self-invented philosophy of 'Discralogism' (Discrete + Analogue). Its underlying core is summed from a dialectic synergy of the organic and algorithmic. Under the principles of this philosophy, Kwan Rzen marries his interests in the mind and the machine, creating 'Psycho-mechanical Art'. 

In his painting practice, Kwan Rzen transforms states of consciousness—ranging from psychological tensions to neurosis—into fictional creatures and embodied entities represented with biomorphic abstractions. He calls this visual language 'Psycho-anatomical Art'.

A lesser-known fact is that he is an inventor of haptic devices who enjoys tinkering with electronics and kinetic art.
